Nummi cliff is an impressive rock formation in picturesque district of Nummi-Pusula beside the highway 1. Nummi can be considered as the birth place of the finnish sport climbing. The first route, Alibi (7c), was established in 1990 by Henrik Suihkonen, who is the 'father' of almost all present routes.
Today the cliff has about 14 routes and couple of difficult projects. Also the hardest route in Finland, Syncro (8c), can be found here.
Stone quality is relatively compact granit combined with gneiss. The main face directs to north so the cliff is usually very shady. Once the cliff dries on spring, it does not easily get wet until after severe rain. All routes are bolted except Trapetsi which can be secured with set of stoppers and a big friend at top. Notice that one route, Sneakers (7a+), is situated on the southern side of the cliff. Despite of traffic noise, please act silently due to the settlement beside the cliff. Be prepared for the mosquitos!!!
