The UK climbing site, www.ukclimbing.com
, have added a new feature to their site that allows climbers to create an online logbook of their ascents. Rather kindly this feature can include Finnish crags and climbs. I have been adding various crags and climbs to the database, mostly of climbs around Helsinki (Rollarit, Kvarnby, Jaanankallio, Solvalla, Havukallio and Olhava). I have just added those routes that I am familiar with, and grades represent an opinion that can be changed.
To cut a long story short, the database is open to all those that are registered at Ukclimbing (which is free and painless) so feel free to log your ascents, your opinions, and add more climbs to the database. The features also includes voting on grades (However, while sports climbs are recorded in French it should be noted that Trad climbs can only be recorded in English grades), you can also vote on quality (i.e. star rating).
Due to the small number of climbers in Finland it is unlikely that such a system could be developed and run in Finland itself. Therefore this is a good opportunity to record Finnish climbing (including first ascentists etc) and correct possible grade anomalies etc.
One last point, as this feature is based on an English language site it is only polite to write comments and the like in English so they can be read by all.
Also some Finnish Ice Climbs have been added by another Finnish based Englishman Toby.
