If anyone has, like me, driven past the Solvalla icefall (on the summer climbing cliff, approximately "Jokisen Eväät" on the topo) at Nuuksio in past years whilst driving to the main ice areas and thought - "I should do that sometime" only to see it melt in the sun before getting round to it, you should do it now as it is in really good condition: http://www.ukclimbing.com/images/dbpage.html?id=24357
There is a shorter icefall at the lefthand end of the crag (approximate line of "kiss me") which is soloable to the tree where you can traverse off along the ledges. With some more ice a direct line to the top of the crag would make the route twice as long, but this was still very thin last saturday and looked far too scary for me.
Has anyone walked across the lake to the main areas? A few weeks ago I was still dubious about the ice thickness on the lake, but I guess it is OK now? What condition are Oikea and Vasen Suora in?
